Competition Schedule
8:30am - Registration for Primary, Beginner and Novice; 9:00am - Competition start
Order of Dances: PDB, PDB & HC, Fling, Sword, Seann Triubhas

12:30pm - Registration for Intermediate and Premier; 1:00pm - Competition start
Order of Dances: Fling, Sword, Seann Triubhas, Laddie

Awards
Medals will be awarded in all groups.
Overall trophies will be awarded to the highest point winner in each age group, with the exception of Primary.
Special awards to be given:
- Most Promising Beginner and Novice Dancer in the morning competition
- Most Promising Intermediate Dancer in the afternoon competition
- Premier Dancer of the Day in the afternoon competition, as determined by a 4-step Fling dance-off

Competition Rules:
1. Competition will be conducted in accordance with the rules of the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (RSOBHD).
2. The judge’s decision is final.
3. Age groups will be determined according to the number of entries and competitors’ ages are as of the day of the competition, November 6, 2021.
4. Dancers first to enter shall be last to dance.
5. Dancers must present their 2021 registration card to register and receive awards.
6. Dancers must be in full costume to receive awards.
7. Awards are given at the judge’s discretion.
8. Dancers must be ready and appear when called or forfeit the chance to dance.
9. Alma Highland Festival reserves the right to make changes to the event or schedule so long as the change falls within the scope of RSOBHD Rules.

Additional Requirements:
1. Dancers must arrive in costume, completed hair, and make-up.
2. Changing areas will not be available.
3. Each dancer must present a valid 2021 SDUSA Registration card with the new sticker on the back. PrePremier cards will be collected in a box and returned at the end of the competition.
4. Socially distanced, designated spaces will be available for dancers/family member.
5. Dancers, volunteers, and spectators at SDUSA competitions must comply with state and local guidelines for mask wearing. All dancers may wear a mask when entering the competition stage. Dancers may remove their mask and place it in a paper bag at the back of the competition stage or opt to compete while wearing a mask.
6. Extra masks will be made available by the organizer.
7. Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the venue.
8. A paper bag will be provided by the organizer upon arrival for holding the dancer’s mask while on the platform, if needed.
9. SDUSA Day of Competition Certificate and Assumption of Risk-Adult or Assumption of Risk- Child waiver will need to be signed upon arrival.
10. Only one dancer may register at a time. All attendees must practice social distancing while waiting in line in accordance with state and local guidelines.
11. The stage will not be available for warm-up. Dancer warm-up can occur in either the designated family space or a socially distanced area outside the event perimeter.
12. Water will not be available; all dancers must provide their own water and snacks.
13. Awards may be placed in a bag with the dancer’s name and available for pickup at the awards table along with dancers’ Pre-Premier cards.
14. Trophy winners may be awarded on stage.

Masks/Facial Coverings
1. It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure that their unvaccinated children are protected by wearing a mask and practicing social distancing, especially if the child is under the age of 12 years.
2. Please have a mask available to use for crowded indoor venues.
3. If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask, especially if you are not vaccinated, please do so even if state and local guidelines do not require it.

Restrictions

Competition entries will stay open through October 31, 2021. Ticket/Program sales will stay open through November 3.
$5 of each competitor entry goes to ScotDance USA.
