Alma Highland Festival and Alma College invite you to attend the 2022 Alma Scottish Arts Weekend!
Held on the campus of Alma College, the weekend will feature a number of events showcasing the Highland Arts: bagpipe and highland dance competitions and workshops, Alma College football and basketball games, admissions tours and information, Kiltie Dance Company audititons and the Alma College Dance Company fall concert featuring the Alma College Kiltie Dancers. All registered dancers receive FREE admission to the Saturday evening performance! There will also be a costume resale area for anyone looking to sell or buy.

Competition Schedule - Saturday, November 12
8:15am - Registration for Primary, Beginner and Novice
9:00am - Competition start. Order of Dances: Flora, PDB, PDB & HC, Fling, Sword, Seann Triubhas
12:15pm - Registration for Intermediate and Premier
1:00pm - Competition start. Order of Dances: Flora, Earl of Errol (Premier only), Fling, Sword (Intermediate only), Seann Triubhas, Premier Sword Challenge, DoD Fling
Awards
Medals will be awarded in all pre-premier groups; cash prizes in all premier groups.
Overall trophies will be awarded to the highest point winner in each age group, with the exception of Primary.
Special awards to be given:
- Most Promising Beginner and Novice Dancer
- Most Promising Intermediate Dancer
- Premier Sword Challenge
- Premier Dancer of the Day, as determined by a 4-step Fling
Competition Rules:
1. Competition will be conducted in accordance with the rules of the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (RSOBHD).
2. The judge’s decision is final.
3. Age groups will be determined according to the number of entries and competitors’ ages are as of the day of the competition, November 12, 2022.
4. Dancers first to enter shall be last to dance.
5. Dancers must present their 2022 registration card to register and receive awards.
6. Dancers must be in full costume to receive awards.
7. Awards are given at the judge’s discretion.
8. Dancers must be ready and appear when called or forfeit the chance to dance.
9. Alma Highland Festival reserves the right to make changes to the event or schedule so long as the change falls within the scope of RSOBHD Rules.
